In August 2024, Airborne Solutions launched a unique project in partnership with Montreal's École Nationale d'Aérotechnique (ÉNA). The aim?
To offer students of aeronautical maintenance a unique opportunity: to take their place in a cockpit and experience flight in an aircraft. An immersive experience designed to give them a better understanding of the systems they work on every day, but from a whole new perspective.
Combining theory and practice This innovative program was designed to enrich the training of ÉNA mechanics and technicians. Usually focused on aircraft ground maintenance, these future experts had the chance to discover how systems work in flight, directly from the cockpit. This transition from the classroom to the cockpit enabled them to see in real time the impact of the systems they maintain: engines, hydraulic systems, on-board electronics and flight controls.
This gave the students a better understanding of the importance of precision and coordination between different systems for safe, high-performance flight.
Aunique immersive experience Mentored by Airborne Solutions' professional pilots, students were invited to experience the aircraft in flight under supervision, while learning to recognize and solve technical challenges that can arise in flight. This experience enabled them to understand the needs of the pilot, see how systems interact under various conditions, and extend their technical understanding to real-life situations. In-flight immersion reinforced their theoretical learning by giving them a more complete perspective on their work. It's a crucial step for these future mechanics and engineers who, once they graduate, will be responsible for ensuring flight safety through preventive and corrective aircraft maintenance.
